Mongolia is a very large country with tourist sites that the historic, the cultural and the modern. Mongolia’s countryside is rugged and consists of unspoiled valleys, mountains and lakes that are teeming with wildlife. The country hosts many monasteries that are very active and include practicing monks in residence. Many of Mongolia’s newer cities were built during the Soviet era and include architecture and monuments all dedicated to the communist time period.
